February 2008: dpac UK ltd appointed ARTEL importers & agents for the UK
dpac UK Ltd Limited is pleased to announce that they have been appointed UK importers and exclusive sales agents for ARTEL through the wall range products. The addition of this exciting range of air conditioning equipment further enhances dpac as a rapidly expanding import agency within the market place.
Silvia Chiarion, Export Manager of ARTEL S.p.A comments "We are delighted to be working with dpac and I am confident that the synergy between our two companies will further increase the growing awareness and opportunities in what the ARTEL range has to offer the UK market. dpac’s experience as sales agents and their history, coupled with their customer base makes them our ideal partner.
Simon Lamberton-Pine of dpac UK explains the Vita Diva wall mounted heat pump with no condenser will provide new and existing customer’s obvious benefits where outside condensers are restricted. The new Vita Diva system from ARTEL gives flexibility of installation with no need for installation against a perimeter wall. Also the ‘Doppio’ indoor condensing unit can be located in any room of the building within 8 metres of the indoor wall unit. Both types require only 2 160 mm holes to outside.
ARTEL S.p.A has been operating on the international market for over 20 years. The company produces and distributes a wide range of air conditioners.
With an ultra-modern manufacturing plant, ARTEL has a special quality control department, a highly automated central warehouse ensuring super-quick product delivery times.
A new UK website of the Vita Diva and the new dpac ARTEL division can be seen at www.artelaircon.co.uk. There are downloads and an installation video as well as a ‘where to buy’ distributor link for consumers.
dpac are now actively appointing distributors.

2008: Living in a science fiction environment can present problems when sourcing materials and appliances.
Interior designer Tony Alleyne designed and built the now world famous Star Trek Apartment situated in Hinckley, Leicestershire, UK.
Influenced by Paramount's set designer Richard D James and scenic art supervisor Michael Okuda, the Star Trek Apartment has been an ongoing project for the last five years and has attracted media types from around the world.
Over the past five years there has been over 50 film crews and countless reporters at the apartment.
The apartment has been featured in many television shows and magazines all over the world and is still, to this day, attracting lots of media attention.
The Star Trek Apartment only measures around 500 square meters making a fairly cramped and warm environment for film crews who normally consist of 5-6 people.
As most film crews tend to shoot in summer I felt that something had to be done to make the apartment more comfortable whilst entertaining various media types.
The problem was finding an air conditioning unit that not only performed adequately; it really had to look like it belonged in the 24th century.
After spending countless hours searching the net for the ideal air conditioning unit that would compliment the Star Trek Apartment, I finally came across the DPW120 Flat Maestro through DPAC the UK Importers.
Following an email and phone call to dpac uk ltd UK's managing director, Simon Lamberton-Pine, he kindly made a visit to the apartment and measured up for the Flat wall mounted unit.
The apartment is being upgraded to Star Trek Voyager spec and the colour scheme consists of shades of grey with aluminium inlay. The Flat Maestro was exactly what I'd been looking for in terms of colour, shape and performance, excellent cooling, heating, dehumidification and fan only functions.
Two film crews were at the Star Trek Apartment in June/July 05 - SKY TV for a show called 'The Real British Suburbia' and HGTV from California for a show to be aired in 2006 and goes out to around 80,000 000 viewers.
Both film crews commented on the Flat Maestro and how it performed and blended in with the design.
I must confess, after the hours I spent searching the net, I thought I would never find an air conditioning unit that would be suitable for the apartment.
Star Trek fans are very observant and sometimes nit-picky when it comes to Star Trek interior so I have to be very careful with what I install or apply to a science fiction interior.
For me, dpac aircon is literally in a world of its own. Well done dpac!
Tony Alleyne

hows that!
2008: When former Northamptonshire and England cricketer, Allan Lamb, wanted to transform his conservatory into a room the family could enjoy all year round, there was only one solution.
A stylish and practical, dpac climate control system, combining air conditioning and heating.
dpac's high wall system was the obvious solution for Allan, “I don’t know how we ever managed without it. We have put it to the test during the year and it works really well. Knowing a bit about the pros and cons of air conditioning from my travels abroad, I knew broadly what I was looking for”.
The unobtrusive Italian styling and compact dimensions make it ideally suited for conservatories. The flat silvercompact internal unit sits high on a wall, without taking up valuable floor space, while the equally well designed external unit doesn’t look out of place in the garden.
“The quiet running means that we hardly know its on until we go outside and are reminded of the ambient temperature”.
The unit is placed high on the wall, at an ideal level for climate control and it is operated via remote control. This allows you to choose the desired room temperature and fan speed and to programme the timer, if you should so wish. “It means I’m in total control from the comfort of my armchair. And there is even a unique feature that lets you alter the temperature and fan speed via your mobile phone, so it can be ready for when you get home”.
The dpac system is competitively priced, offering high quality and value for money. It is ideally placed for efficient air conditioning output when cooling a room and the heat function offers a highly efficient means of transferring energy into warmth.
The size of unit required depends on the size of your conservatory, but the wide range available means there is one to suit you. Indeed some of the external units can support two internal units, so you can control the climate in another room as well as your conservatory. dpac units are available in easy fit models with eco friendly refrigerant.

Our heat pumps are suited to geothermal or air source applications. We have a varying range of models and are able to bespoke our design to suit various applications within our production facilities to suit unique applications. We also offer an OEM option if you already manufacture or supply within the heating sector and wish to partner us.
As announced in the 2005 Budget, with effect from 7 April 2005, the installation of heat pumps in residential accommodation and certain charity buildings will become subject to the reduced VAT rate of five per cent.
This will provide a welcome reduction in cost to consumers installing heat pump air conditioning systems to domestic homes in the UK - In most cases it will be cheaper for consumers to fit heat pump systems rather than cooling only systems. The reduced VAT rate only applies to equipment which is both supplied and fitted to residential accommodation - supply only equipment is still subject to the standard 17.5% VAT.
Grants in England, Wales & Northern Ireland are available of £1,200 per closed loop for ground source heating systems. Scotland has grants 30% of total installation costs (including ground works). We will help you to complete the application forms and claim your grants.
